Twitter so far has taught me that there are a lot more uses for it, rather than just scrolling through how your friends are feeling. There are many educational accounts and teachers on twitter sharing articles and facts about the education world. I have learned techniques and ways of the trade of teaching from these education accounts, such as Edutopia and Education Week, who tweet articles about how to become a better teacher. The benefits from twitter include the establishment of connections with other teachers and with good lesson plans for future educating.
I have only just begun my website, but I have already learned that it is fairly easy to create a website and you can make it very personal. Having your own website as a teacher is useful to the parents to give them information about your class and to have a reference for them to make sure that their children are on track. I like how user friendly the weebly website is, but about the assignment itself, I don't like how open ended and independent it is because I don't know if I'm doing a good job making my own website. I'm glad I am doing this assignment now while I am in college because it will be a useful tool when I am a teacher and I'd rather make mistakes now than when already in the profession. Diigo is an amazing resource to bookmark websites and share them and it has taught me that there are other professional ways to connect than just social media. In the classroom I will use Diigo to bookmark and edit lesson plans that I find online in order to have a safe place to keep them and to come back to them. I will encourage my team members to look into Diigo that way we don't have to try and compare lesson plans in person, but we can do so outside of work and those sites that we find that are helpful to each other will always be there on Diigo. I've started to use Diigo already in my schoolwork which is how I'm incorporating the website into my professional studies because it is so helpful in annotating and keeping the place of a useful website.
